A silent movie palace of the 1920s, the Canal Street Theater was known for its beautifully detailed terracotta façade. Now an electronics store, the beauty of the building has been marred somewhat but the auditorium can still be glimpsed, although it is now a warehouse, and the original side exits and fire escapes are still in place. The ornaments in the lobby, also terracotta, can still be seen on the high ceilings and the side walls.
