Edit Fulton Street Subway Kiosk

Address
Starting Address:

Financed by German-Jewish banker August Belmont, himself an immigrant who changed his name upon arriving to his new country, the Interborough Rapid Transit shuttles passengers across the five boroughs. The subway kiosks were designed with a unique motif or theme for each one to aid newly-arrived immigrants in finding their way around. The Fulton Street kiosk has a terracotta relief of New York artist Robert Fulton’s “Clermont sailing down the Hudson” meaning that a generation of immigrants came to America knowing that they had to get off the train at the station with the boat.
