This award-winning museum offers visitors a chance to relive the Normandy invasion and conducts guided tours of the D-Day beaches. Permanent exhibits cover a wide range of subjects on the global conflict that was World War II, affording visitors in-depth looks at the causes of the war, the Holocaust and the post-war shaping of Europe. There is also an exhibit that outlines the effects of the D-Day invasion on the people of Normandy and the role that locals played in aiding the Allied forces. The physical evidence of the war can still be witnessed in the many bomb craters that mark the hillsides around the landing area and the remains of Nazi fortifications that still overlook the beach.
