One of the great family museums in New York, AMNH displays a vast collection of fossils, samples, minerals and specimens in a fun and engaging manner. The famous Blue Whale replica, a 90 foot fiberglass structure, dominates the Hall of Ocean Life and a cross section of a 1300 year old sequoia is the star attraction in the collection of vegetable life. The famous planetarium has been upgraded with new technology and puts on a spectacular Saturday night light show.
From a Jewish History perspective, the Asian Peoples section on the second floor features ceremonial objects and folk art from ancient Jewish communities of the Near East. A highlight is a silver Torah designed in the Sephardic tradition.
