Edit Alfred Dreyfus Statue

Address
116-118 Boulevard Raspail, Paris, France, 75006
Starting Address:

“If you want me to live, give me back my honor” says the plaque on the Dreyfus statue, which depicts Alfred Dreyfus standing with his sword broken- a metaphor for the rank that was denied to him after being framed only because he was a Jew. Francois Mitterrand commissioned the statue, created by sculptor Louis Mitelberg in 1985, and after being refused at the Ecole Militaire by the Minister of Defense, it was placed in a small square off Boulevard Raspail. A replica is located at the entrance of the Museum of Jewish Art and History in Paris. Down the street at 54 Boulevard Raspail sits a small plaque in front of where he was imprisoned, which is today one of Paris’ former elite university buildings.
