You won't find a name or a sign announcing this well-known multi-generational bakery, but you will consistently find a line out the door except of course Fridays after 3pm or on Shabbat. Don't be deceived by the lack of a window display or the dearth of options (they make about 4 different baked goods). Much of the pastries are piled into steel trays and hastily thrown into white paper bags for the customers. But, what this bake shop lacks in presentation, they make up for in flavor. For any traveler brave enough to sample from unappetizing burnt looking trays of rolls, a true Roman reward awaits. Those blackened buns are the most famous creation known as Pizza Ebraica (Jewish pizza) and are sweet rolls filled with chunks of colorful candied jellies, almonds and other nuts. And they taste fresh the next day, as well (Sold by weight, ~2.50 for a large one), as do the mandorla and biscottini.
